Golf In The 2016 Rio Olympics

Yes there are over 1,200 days before the 2016 Olympic Games kick off, but I am already pumped. For the first time in over a century golf will be played. I know how hard it is to believe. A sport that dates back to the 15th Century was last part of the Olympic Programme at the 1904 Games in St. Louis when the United States and Canada were the only two competing countries.

Now that Golf is played on every continent (basically), the great sport will be featured at the Worlds Games in 2016. At least 30 countries are expected to be represented in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

The proposed Olympic competition for both men and women is a 72-hole individual stroke play tournament, with the lowest score earning the gold medal. In case of a tie for either first, second or third place, a three-hole playoff will determine the winners. This is going to be great!

I really am excited about this and if I hear anything regarding it, I will make sure to keep everyone posted.
