Golfing in the Pacific Northwest

Having only visited the state of Washington once, I soon realized that the golfing is exceptional. During my two-week stay, I was able to play a few different courses around the state.

I started at Wine Valley Golf Course in the small town of Walla Walla, which means “many waters” in Native American. This course is very exciting from the opening tee shot, with wide fairways that help with changing whether conditions, hole locations, and dramatic bunkers that even intimidate the most skillful players. Golfweek ranked Wine Valley in their top 100 most modern courses of 2012 and ranked them the second best golf course in the state of Washington.

Following my stay in Walla Walla, I headed northwest towards Seattle. After taking in the sites of the largest city in the Pacific Northwest region of North America, I made a quick hour drive north to Avalon Golf Links in Burlington.

Avalon Golf Links is one of the most unique and beautiful public golf clubs in the state of Washington. The course overlooks the scenic Skagit Valley and offers overwhelming views of the Olympic and Cascade ranges. Avalon Links consist of three exceptional 9 hole layouts, that together make up one of Washington’s finest golf experiences. The Club is readily accessible from both Seattle and Vancouver, making it the perfect choice for a golf outing or tournament from anywhere in western Washington and southwestern British Columbia.
